Braille, tactile and access technology learning our way!

The Tactile and Technology Literacy Centre (also known as TTLC) is Aotearoa New Zealand’s only social enterprise dedicated to mastering the sense of touch.

We specialise in helping people with very low or no vision, like you or someone you know,  to tap into your natural tactile ability. You may not realise just how powerful your tactile perception already is, and how much information you get from your environment every day.

Whether your goal is to learn Braille, explore the latest innovations in assistive technology, or to get a Braille copy of a book or document, we’re here for you.

We know that everyone’s vision loss journey is different. We’ve been there. Our three co-founders and many of our staff are blind, low vision or have an access need or disability. We can relate to the challenges of having a vision impairment and figuring out how to read and use technology a different way. We chose to take our own lived experiences and turn them into something fun and useful to help people through their vision journey. Adaptation and innovation are our superpowers and whether you know it or not, they're yours, too.

We’re foodies at heart, but cookie-cutter processes are not what we do. We pride ourselves on our tailor-made approach and will work with you to help you figure out what support you need and how we may be able to help. We also know people who know people, so if we're not the right fit, we know who to ask and will ensure you feel confident and supported to figure out the next step.
